Officers from Fargo Police were called to the 2200 block of 6th Ave. S. on Monday, June 24, at 8:16 p.m. in response to a report of gunfire. Officers arrived to find a victim who had sustained critical injuries from a gunshot wound to the face. Before the police came, the suspect or suspects had left the site. The person received medical attention after being taken to a nearby hospital. Although attempts were made to save the victim’s life, they were declared dead. The victim was identified by the FPD as 24-year-old Zion Brooks, a resident of Fargo.
Following a comprehensive investigation of the site and interviews with witnesses, Fargo Police investigators have concluded that the individuals involved were acquainted. The Criminal Investigations Division of The Fargo Police Department is actively searching for further information regarding the facts surrounding this event as part of an ongoing investigation. According to reports, the police have identified J’Veonte Malike Logan, 20, of Fargo, also known as Amire Logan, as a person of interest in the murder.
Logan is still reportedly at large, so authorities are advising anyone who may come across him to stay away from him, dial 9-1-1, and provide any pertinent information.
