Who was Tabitha King? Missing Colonie Woman Identified

Missing Woman’s Remains Identified in Albany; Suspect Arrested

Human remains discovered at a residence on Sheridan Avenue in Albany earlier this month have been identified as those of Tabitha King, a 42-year-old woman from Colonie who had been missing since March 2024.

Following this discovery, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Herbst, 42, who has been charged with the concealment of a human corpse. Herbst is currently being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.

The remains of King were found on July 11 at the home located at 301 Sheridan Avenue, following the execution of a search warrant linked to a suspicious death investigation. Despite the autopsy revealing no signs of foul play in King’s death, the homeowner was taken into custody.

The Colonie Police Department had reported Tabitha King missing in March.
