The UTSA Police Department and San Antonio, TX Police Department are currently addressing a suicide attempt that occurred on Monday, May 6, 2024, at The University of Texas at San Antonio campus. Authorities were sent to the student’s parking garage adjacent to the BioScience Building in response to a report of attempted suicide. Law enforcement authorities report that a male individual made a suicide attempt by jumping off the parking deck. A Reddit user described the gruesome incident they witnessed as someone attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the building.
Several bystanders in the vicinity immediately reacted and commenced performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the individual who had collapsed. Unidentified individuals in the vicinity promptly approached the person involved and assisted until law enforcement and other emergency personnel arrived at the location. The individual was conveyed to a local medical facility with an undisclosed state of health. The UTSA Police Department and the San Antonio Police Department in Texas are both addressing the event. Individuals have been strongly advised to steer away of the area while authorities are in the process of removing any obstructions or hazards.
