A New York police sergeant wife Ornela was found dead of an apparent murder-suicide and their two young sons early Saturday morning.
Clarkstown police responded to the family’s New City home on Clydesdale Court around 12:20 AM to perform a welfare check. Upon entering the house, they discovered 49-year-old Watson Morgan, his 43-year-old wife Ornela, and the couple’s two sons, ages 10 and 12, all dead of gunshot wounds.
“At this phase of the investigation it is believed that Watson killed his wife and two children, prior to killing himself,” authorities stated in an updated release. A gun was reportedly recovered from the tragic scene.
Watson Morgan served as a police sergeant with the Bronxville Police Department, located in Westchester County. The town of New City is in Rockland County, about 30 miles away.
Clarkstown police have not provided further details on what prompted the welfare check or revealed any suspected motivation behind the murder-suicide. The department said more information will be shared at a briefing later in the weekend.

New City, NY – On Saturday, December 30, 2023 at approximately 12:20 am, officers from the Clarkstown Police Department conducted a welfare check at 10 Clydesdale Court in New City. Upon entering the home, they discovered 49-year-old Watson Morgan, his 43-year-old wife Ornela, and the couple’s two sons, ages 10 and 12, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
“All four family members were found deceased. Watson Morgan was employed as a police sergeant with the Bronxville Police Department.
