At about 1:08 p.m. on December 18, 2023, City 911 received a call from a third party stating that a female victim was being abused and held at gunpoint during the course of a robbery that was taking place at a residence located on Center Street.
Multiple units were sent to the location, and upon their arrival, they saw the suspects running away from the residence and attempting to get into a vehicle.
A loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found, and the suspects, who were later identified as Tatiyana LaSane, who is 19 years old, and Ruby Willis, who is 33 years old, were brought into prison. The victim’s property as well as a quantity of narcotics were also found and recovered during the investigation.
The victim sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment; it is anticipated that they will make a full recovery. In the following manner, the suspects were charged:
Tatyana L. LaSane is accused of being in possession of a weapon for the second time (a loaded firearm, which is a Class C Felony) and of being in possession of stolen property for the fifth time (a misdemeanor).
Ruby M. Willis is facing charges of robbery first-degree, burglary first-degree, attempted kidnapping second-degree, criminal possession of a weapon second-degree (loaded firearm – C Felony), criminal possession of a controlled substance fifth-degree (quantity of crack cocaine – D Felony), criminal possession of stolen property fourth-degree (two counts – E Felonies), criminal possession of stolen property fifth-degree (A Mis), and assault third-degree (A Mis).
At the headquarters of the police department, both suspects were processed and held pending their arraignment.
The allegations that have been outlined above are only an accusation, and unless they are proven guilty in a court of law, all suspects are assumed innocent. This is the case with every law enforcement investigation.
