The investigation into the shooting incident on Main Street in Swanton, near Garfield Avenue, is currently ongoing, as confirmed by a dispatcher from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. According to a Facebook post by the Swanton mayor, the chiefs of police and fire suspect that a gunshot occurred inside a vehicle. However, the exact location of the shooting remains unclear, and it is possible that it took place outside of the town.
The mayor’s post also mentioned that the motorist stopped the vehicle to assist a distressed passenger while passing through the neighborhood. Tragically, the passenger was discovered deceased at the scene. The motorist received medical evaluation following the incident.
In response to the shooting, forensic investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) were dispatched to gather evidence at the scene. As the investigation progresses, the area of Main Street at Garfield Avenue will remain closed until further notice to facilitate the inquiry.
