Remembering Sean Patterson: 1958-2023

Sean Patterson Obituary, Death cause: The town of Boone, Iowa mourns the loss of one of its lifelong residents, Sean Patterson, who passed away on December 28, 2023 at the age of 58. Sean touched countless lives throughout his nearly six decades in the Boone community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and good humor.

Sean was born on April 24, 1965 at Boone County Hospital to parents Margaret and Henry Patterson. He attended Boone High School, where he played football and participated in the drama club. After graduating in 1983, Sean went on to study business at Northwest Missouri State University.

Upon returning to Boone after college, Sean began working at the local Hy-Vee grocery store. He quickly moved up to store manager, overseeing operations and getting to know many of the store’s loyal customers. Sean took pride in running an efficient, friendly store and became a familiar face over his 30+ years at Hy-Vee.

Outside of work, Sean was an active member of the Boone community. He volunteered with local schools, churches, and organizations. Sean also enjoyed fishing, camping, and following Iowa Hawkeyes football. He loved cracking jokes and making people laugh with his quick wit and affable personality.

Sean found great joy in spending time with family and friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend who always offered a listening ear or wise advice when needed. Sean’s presence brought warmth, laughter, and compassion to any gathering.

A visitation will be held for Sean on January 5, 2024 from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Boone. The service will follow at 7:00 PM at the same location. In lieu of flowers, Sean’s family requests that donations be made to the Sean Patterson Memorial Fund.

Sean Patterson leaves behind a community that will deeply miss his friendship and generosity of spirit. Though his passing brings great sadness, we can find solace in memories of Sean’s full, meaningful life and the positive impact he had on so many.
