Scott Lautenbaugh was not only a former State Senator and Election Commissioner but also a larger-than-life figure in the eyes of his community. Described as both a friend and mentor, Scott’s impact resonated through his time in the Legislature and his legal career as an Attorney at The Law Offices of Scott Lautenbaugh. He was a proud graduate of Creighton University and Omaha South High School.
Born on November 11, 1964, in Sioux City, Iowa, Scott earned his diploma from Omaha South High School in 1983. He furthered his education at Creighton University, graduating with a B.A. in 1987 and a J.D. in 1991. Scott, a father of two and divorced, served as the Douglas County Election Commissioner from 2000 to 2003.
His influence extended beyond his official capacities, marked by his successful handling of redistricting issues, including those of the Omaha City Council and the Omaha Public Schools’ school board. Despite facing personal challenges, such as a DUI incident in 2013, Scott remained a resilient and respected figure in the Nebraska political landscape.
