A fatal shooting late Friday night in Clifton resulted in the death of 51-year-old Robert Rogers, an Elmwood Park resident, following a street altercation. The incident occurred just before midnight on December 20 near the intersection of Lakeview and Merselis Avenues. Police have since arrested a 67-year-old Clifton resident, Angel Pacheco, in connection with the killing.

According to police reports, the confrontation began when Rogers approached a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck stopped at a red light. Rogers exited his vehicle and engaged in a confrontation with the truck’s driver, later identified as Pacheco. During the altercation, Pacheco allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Rogers in the chest. Authorities were alerted to the incident at 11:47 p.m. through emergency calls reporting the shooting.
