The community of Galway and Roscommon is mourning the tragic loss of Rian Sheridan, a vibrant young man whose life was cut short in a devastating car accident on the Athlone Road in Newtown, Co Roscommon. The collision between Rian’s vehicle and a truck resulted in severe injuries, and despite efforts to save him, Rian tragically succumbed to his injuries at Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe.
Rian, who hailed from Renvyle, County Galway, was known for his passion for music, football, and dairy farming. He was the beloved son of Finian and Maria Sheridan and the cherished brother of Ciara, Doireann, and Aebhín.
Tributes poured in from friends, family, and acquaintances, reflecting the impact Rian had on those around him. Heartfelt messages described him as a “bright light” taken too soon and recalled fond memories shared with him.
The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects during Rian’s removal at Christ the King Church in Tullycross, Co Galway, on Easter Sunday from 4 pm to 7 pm. His funeral service will follow on Monday at 12 pm, with burial to take place in Renvyle Cemetery.
