Rex dedicated his career to advocating for workers’ rights as a Union Representative. His work in this role highlighted his unwavering commitment to ensuring fair treatment and benefits for workers. As an Assistant to Congressman Glen Poshard, Rex played a crucial role in legislative support and constituent services, demonstrating his dedication and integrity.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Rex was deeply involved in his community. He served as a Past President of the Herrin Rotary, where his leadership was instrumental in various community projects. He was also an active member of several civic organizations, including Herrin’s Prairie Masonic Lodge #693, the Herrin Lions Club, and the Williamson County Shrine Club, where his contributions were highly valued.

Survivors and Memorial Service

Rex Piper Jr. is survived by his son, Maxx Piper of Marion; his father, Rex Piper Sr. of Herrin; and his brother, Jon Piper of Herrin. He was preceded in death by his mother. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Herrin City Cemetery, officiated by Rev. James Wright. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the Williamson County Shrine Club, with envelopes available at the cemetery.
