Raina Simpson, a cherished resident of Somerset, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. She was 37 years old. The news of her passing was shared through a heartfelt social media post: “My heart is heavy hearing the news of Raina Simpson passing. Her ministry to reach those who have cancer is something she will always be remembered by. One thing about her, she put the Lord above everything.”
What happened to Raina Simpson?
In June 2020, shortly before her 33rd birthday, Raina was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer while giving birth to her third child. Doctors discovered numerous tumors on her liver and a sizable growth in her colon. Over the following years, she underwent extensive tests, surgeries, and chemotherapy under the care of the UK Markey Cancer Center.
In August 2021, Raina celebrated ringing the bell at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky, marking the successful end of her intense battle with cancer. Following her recovery, Raina dedicated herself to supporting other cancer patients and their families through her ministry, Eyes on You.
She also founded the charitable organization Hope 712 to assist families dealing with cancer. Raina was a devoted mother to Deacon, Judah, and Titus, and a loving wife to her husband, Dustin Simpson.
