Paula Roll’s passing marks the end of a courageous journey and leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and influence that will continue to resonate for generations. Born on April 30, 1952, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Dr. and Mrs. Upton A. Savoie, Paula embarked on a remarkable life journey that touched the lives of many.
Her early years at Lincoln School in Providence, Rhode Island, laid the foundation for her future endeavors. Paula’s thirst for knowledge led her to Connecticut College, where she pursued her passion for theater arts, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Continuing her quest for personal and professional growth, Paula pursued a master’s degree in Communications at Boston University, where she not only furthered her education but also found love in her life partner, John. Equipped with her newfound skills and knowledge, Paula ventured into marketing, broadcasting, and advertising, enjoying a successful forty-year career and making a significant impact on her colleagues and projects.
Upon retirement, Paula’s life took on new dimensions of creativity, music, and exploration. Her love for music found expression in songwriting and singing, touching audiences worldwide. Travel became a cherished hobby, allowing her to explore diverse cultures and horizons. Yet, amidst her adventures, Paula found true joy in spending quality time with her beloved family.
Paula Roll is survived by her devoted husband, John H. Roll, of 42 years, her loving daughters, Meredith Roll and Katherine (Jason) Pomposelli, and her cherished grandchildren, Cecilia, Cadence, and Vivienne. She also leaves behind siblings, Carolyn (William) O’Neil, Jacquelyn (Jeremy) Medina, Upton (Caroline) Savoie Jr., and Janet (Donald Winters) Savoie, along with numerous other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home in Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Saint Paul VI Parish-Saint Rita Church, followed by burial at Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
