The family of Nick Cammarata confirmed the tragic news on Facebook; “It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Nick Cammarata.
To know Nick, was to know a journey through complex twists and turns filled with depth, love, and a lot of loud cackling laughs that could be heard from all over. With a unique power to shift the energy of a room – Nick could talk himself into and out of anything that he wanted and his charm could woo anyone into the longest stories ever told with an excitement that had his listeners feel like they were a part of the ride,” Hayley Cammarata wrote.

Nick Cammarata was reportedly found dead on Wednesday, according to a close family member. The dedicated coach and longtime Massachusetts resident was a well-respected community member who inspired a large number of people including the young athletes.
Who Was Nick Cammarata?
Nick Cammarata was born in Boston, MA on Mar 03, 1980. He graduated from the Merrimack College and St. Sebastian’s School – an all-boys Catholic secondary day school located in Needham, Massachusetts. Nicholas Cammarata played in six leagues throughout his career. In 2022, he was welcomed as the new Head Coach at The Texas Brahmas of the NA3HL after leaving Vernal Oilers Jr.
Nick also had an experienced hockey background and served as a NCAA DI Merrimack Warriors captain, where he played from 1999-2003. Canton, MA residents and the North Richland Hills hockey community mourn the unexpected incident. “You can’t think about Nick Cammarata and not have hockey come to your mind, but he was so much more than that. Yes, he was excellent – but I think Nick would mostly want to be remembered for his titles of grandson, son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend. At the core of his soul, Nick just wanted to love and be loved and his role of friend and family would supersede any other accolade presented to him, especially as he grew older.”
Vernal Oilers wrote: “We are sad to announce the passing of former Oiler coach, Nick Cammarata at the age of 44. Nick was instrumental in the success of our organization’s inaugural 2021-2022 season, and he left an impression on many in the Vernal community. Our thoughts are with his family during this time.
