18-year-old Nate Jackman was a Junior ‘A’ Ice Hockey player at British Columbia’s Castlegar Rebels. Jackman died unexpectedly this week following a medical emergency, according to the family. Prayers have been called for by the Nelson, B. C. residents, on the behalf of Jackman family, Derrick and Tammyn, and the entire Castlegar Rebels Junior A’ teammates. Nate Jackman passed away leaving his family, friends, and community devastated.
Castlegar Rebels wrote on Facebook: “The Castlegar Rebels organization is heartbroken by the loss of Nate Jackman. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nate’s family. No words can provide comfort at a time like this, but we offer our support and love as they begin to process the very profound loss of their beloved son. Nate was a beautiful human being, and a wonderful young man. He was loved by his teammates and coaches and adored by hockey fans not only here in Castlegar, but also in his hometown of Nelson. Nate was a true gift. His smile and captivating energy will leave a lasting impact on our program, and he will never be forgotten. We love you Jacks. Fly high brother.”
Castlegar Skating Club: Our hearts go out to the Jackman family🧡🖤 Nate was a big help with our Canskate program this season and the kids loved having him out there. He was an inspiration for our young skaters that move onto hockey after leaving Canskate. Nate will be deeply missed and greatly remembered by many. Sincerest sympathies to the Jackman family, Derrick and Tammy, there are no words, we are so sorry and thinking of you. To all the hockey families who had the privilege of playing with Nate, ours included, this has shaken us to the core.
