Michael Donald Leith Obituary: 1 dead, another injured in Hwy 20 ATV accident in Calhoun, IA; victim identified

Michael Donald Leith Obituary – The Iowa State Patrol has confirmed that an 84-year-old man passed away and another individual was injured in an ATV accident at the intersection of Highway 20 and Zearing Ave. in Calhoun, IA. At approximately 3:30 p.m., a northbound John Deere ATV on Zearing Ave. failed to yield the right of way to a Ford Taurus traveling east on Highway 20. The collision caused both vehicles to come to a stop at the median east of the intersection.

The ATV driver, 88-year-old Michael Donald Leith from Manson, IA, succumbed to his injuries and was transported to a funeral home. The Ford driver, identified as William Oscar Peterson, was taken to his residence in Moreland, IA by his family.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Knierim Fire Department, the Calhoun Medical Examiner, and the Iowa Department of Transportation
