Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division of the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) are looking into the shooting death of a lady in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, by her boyfriend, who then turned the pistol on himself and committed suicide. James Shannon, 29, and Margarette Barksdale, 37, have been confirmed as the pair. Following a 911 call from neighbours, officers discovered them in an upstairs bedroom of a townhouse on Nightshade Drive at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
CPR and other medical procedures were carried out by staff members of Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department. Shannon and Barksdale were both declared dead. According to the initial reports, Shannon got into a fight with his girlfriend and then shot himself. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
