Man Arrested on Felony Drug Charges in Washington County, Florida

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – A resident of Elba, Ala., was taken into custody on Tuesday morning for felony drug charges, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident unfolded when the communication center of the sheriff’s office received a call reporting a suspicious individual pounding on the door of a local residence. The occupants of the home made multiple attempts to persuade the man to leave, but he refused to comply.

Responding deputies swiftly located the suspect’s vehicle, where they discovered the driver sitting inside with a vacant expression on his face, accompanied by a parrot perched on his shoulder. The officers also observed the presence of weapons within the vehicle.

Despite repeated instructions, the man continued to disregard the deputy’s commands. Consequently, the deputy resorted to deploying a taser to safely detain the individual. It was during this encounter that the suspect admitted to being under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Thankfully, the parrot accompanying the suspect was unharmed and has since been handed over to the care of Washington County Animal Control.

The driver, later identified as Timothy Brandon Bowers, aged 38, now faces multiple charges, including two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing.

This incident highlights the tireless efforts of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in ensuring the safety and security of the local community through prompt response and effective law enforcement.
