The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that emergency responders swiftly reacted to reports of the fatal crash at around 9:56 a.m. The tragic incident unfolded on Interstate 675, situated between Interstate 70 and State Route 444. Smith was operating a Ford Fusion when her vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway, colliding with a traffic sign and causing the car to overturn. Consequently, she was ejected from the vehicle, which ultimately came to rest in the southbound lanes.
Heartbreakingly, Smith succumbed to her injuries at the scene. It is crucial to note that she was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.
