Kristie Thibodeaux, age 43, and a Tour Guide for Crawl New Orleans passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024. She was announced dead through a social media post that read “We at Crawl New Orleans are heartbroken to share the devastating news that our cherished tour guide, Kristie Gioe Thibodeaux, was tragically killed in the French Quarter in the early hours of Sunday morning.” A GoFundMe page has been created by the family.

What happened to Kristie Thibodeaux?

In relation to a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in the French Quarter, Jerben Albarec, Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio, and a 15-year-old were taken into custody by the New Orleans Police Department. According to records, Bonifacio was freed from Jefferson Parish jail earlier in the year due to jail overcrowding. On Sunday, June 30, gunfire took place in the 700 block of St. Peter Street. Kristie Thibodeaux, 43, was found shot and dead in a car at 4:36 a.m. as a result of the incident.

Who was Kristie Thibodeaux?

Kristie Gioe Thibodeaux was a loving husband of ten years, Jase Thibodeaux. She was a daughter to Joseph A. Gioe and Diane P. Gioe, and a sister to Lisa Doll Sahuque, Lori Doll Temple, Joseph A. Gioe, Jr., and Michael J. Gioe. Kristie loved animals, especially her three living fur babies, Rubble, Sterling, and Phoebe, and two late angels, Sassy and Brolly. She and her husband loved day trips on their motorcycles and finding fun, new places to eat.

She loved adventure, great music, Mardi Gras, and the allure of the French Quarter vibe. She was loved by many and affectionately referred to as “Woozie Koozie,” “Kristie Bug,” and “Aunt Cookie.” Kristie was always there to lend a helping hand. She was fearless, brassy, stylish, and bold, but also such a gentle, sweet, kind, and loving soul.

Kristie loved to laugh and share stories with her family and siblings. She was a Hospitality Hostess and Tour Guide for Crawl New Orleans, a student of USM, and a Catholic, Kristie touched many hearts and lives with her smile, her genuineness, and her loving spirit.

A memorial visitation for Kristie will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.
