The Preble County community is in mourning following the tragic death of Deputy Joshua Hamilton in a motor vehicle accident early this morning on Ohio State Route 503. The crash, which occurred at 4:00 a.m., claimed the lives of Deputy Hamilton and the driver of the other vehicle involved.
Deputy Hamilton, a dedicated member of the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, was traveling southbound when his vehicle collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. Despite being rushed to the Kettering Preble ER Campus, Deputy Hamilton succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the other car, identified as Michael Gayhart II, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
