Jim Ramage Death: Jim, who was 85 years old, passed away in Queensland on Friday, October 11, 2024, following a brief illness. Jim’s legacy in the equine world in the East Kimberley WA, NT, and most recently Queensland is enduring, with a particular emphasis on campdrafting and Polocrosse (his enduring passion). Jim was a long-time employee of the East Kimberley Agricultural Department and, most recently, was a co-owner of Shelf Supply Stock and Station Supplies in Kununurra. He was an active member of the Kununurra Agricultural Society, was heavily involved with the Kununurra Race Club, and was both the President and a very active member of the Kununurra Rodeo and Campdraft Association. Last year, the Committee made him an honorary member.
In addition, Jim was a founding member of the Kununurra Polocrosse Club, which is a subsidiary club of the NT Polocrosse Association. Jim served as the Kununurra Polocrosse Club’s coach, and the club has numerous fond recollections of their expeditions to Darwin and Katherine in pursuit of victory in the C grade. Jim was a frequent participant in the Polocrosse Masters Circuits, as well as with numerous acquaintances throughout Australia. Jim retired to Queensland, where he became a member of the Bauhinia Polocrosse Club and, subsequently, the Calliope Polocrosse Club.
Jim was an enthusiastic supporter of all equine sports, a talented horseman, and was deeply passionate about his family and horses. He was a significant influence on a large number of individuals and will be sorely missed by a diverse and extensive polocrosse family, as well as a diverse and extensive Campdraft Association and its members. There will be a private ceremony to commemorate Jim’s departure, among his family. We are thinking of Jane and Britt, as well as their families.
