Halifax County Woman, Brandy Cox, Fatally Shot in Charlotte, NC, Alongside Her Husband, James, After Confronting a Suspected Sexual Assailant
A woman from Halifax County met a fatal end in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Brandy Cox from Sutherlin, was fatally shot, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Speaking anonymously to sources, a member of the Cox family disclosed that Brandy’s husband, James, was also shot and is presently in stable condition, though nursing a leg injury expected to take a few weeks to heal.
While the police have not divulged the circumstances leading to the shooting, family members assert that the incident followed a sexual assault on one of Cox’s relatives. Allegedly, Brandy and James traveled to Charlotte to confront the alleged assailant.
“The reason they went down there was due to the accusations,” clarified the family member.
Law enforcement confirmed the apprehension of a suspect in connection with the incident.
Summer Breeze, a friend of Brandy for a decade and particularly close over the past year, described Brandy as someone fiercely protective of her loved ones, emphasizing her selflessness.
“She always prioritized others over herself, willing to give the shirt off her back… she was there for you,” expressed Breeze.
Breeze mourned the loss of her friend, highlighting the void left behind and Brandy’s legacy of aiding others.
“That’s what saddens me the most, not having my partner anymore. And she leaves behind a resilient spirit to assist people,” lamented Breeze.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police noted that the case remains under investigation.
