A ‘beloved’ shop proprietor named ‘Pops’, 82 years old, was murdered in Terrell during an armed robbery. Father & Pops GAS station proprietor 82, according to Terrell Police, was murdered on Friday night during an armed burglary at the establishment. The burglary occurred at the establishment located in the 400 block of Virginia Street, shortly before 11 p.m. Police were dispatched to the location in response to a 911 call regarding gunfire. Officers who were already in the vicinity began their sweep of the area upon hearing the gunfire.
The suspect, identified as Jamarco Ja Keith Blanton, 20, was located and subsequently apprehended. Blanton was reportedly identified by investigators through the use of surveillance footage from the establishment and testimony from witnesses. Capital murder charges have been brought against the Dallas man in connection with the death of the store proprietor, Fahed Fatayri, also known as Pops. “Pops was a beloved and longstanding member of the Terrell community,” according to the police. The demise of the 82-year-old during an armed robbery had a profound impact on his family.
