Dr. Maddie Giegold, a resident of San Francisco, California, and an Emergency Medicine resident from UCSF Fresno, has passed away. Her death was announced on social media with a touching tribute: “Our last actual conversation was about the phoenix tattoo on my left arm. You were always a ray of sunshine walking down the hallways. I wish I could’ve had the opportunity to talk to you more. You were one of the only few doctors that actually remember my name.”

Who was Maddie Giegold?

Dr. Madeline Parks Giegold graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in 2020. She worked in Fresno, California, and another location, specializing in Emergency Medicine. Before moving to Seattle for her first permanent position, Dr. Maddie was completing her emergency room residency at the University of California, San Francisco Parnassus Campus. Maddie was passionate about ultramarathon medical care and was known for her infectious enthusiasm and drive. She exemplified how the next generation could address many challenges, despite criticisms often aimed at younger people. Maddie was a devoted daughter, sister, and loving wife to her husband, Matt.

Fundraising for Maddie Giegold’s Family
