Toronto Police responded to a tragic incident outside 3101 Weston Rd., a highrise located at Sheppard Ave. W., early in the morning, following reports of an individual wielding a knife. Constable Laura Brabant reported that an altercation between two men occurred in front of the residential building, resulting in one of the men being stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon.
The victim, identified as 32-year-old Dimitri Smith of Toronto, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but tragically succumbed to his injuries. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Dean Joel Constance, also from Toronto, was apprehended at the scene and has since been charged with first-degree murder. Authorities have revealed that the victim and the suspect were acquainted.
This incident marks the city’s 18th homicide of the year, adding to the growing concern about violence in the community. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist the investigation.
