Miss Alaska USA 2005, Aleah Scheick passed away on Monday June 24, after an extended illness. She was surrounded by family. Scheick represented Alaska in the Mission United States of America 2005 pageant, which was held in Baltimore, Maryland in April 2005, after winning the Mission Alaska United States of America title in late 2004.
About Aleah Scheick
Scheick, originally from The Village of Brooklyn, Michigan, earned a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Alaska Anchorage thanks to a scholarship she won in the Mission Alaska United States of America pageant. Her dream was to become a broadcaster for the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, and ice hockey was her particular interest.
Her duties included anchoring Around the WCHA on cable station KMDM, filming with ESPN2 at the 2003 Great Alaska Shootout for the Duke and Purdue Championship game, and reporting during intermissions at Seawolf hockey games.
She was able to attend the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin because to her employment. She covered the games for the University of Alaska Anchorage’s independent newspaper, The Northern Light. Scheick gave her Mission Alaska United States of America crown to Fairbanks resident Noelle Meyer on November 4, 2006.
