The Custer County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho has officially confirmed that the burnt remains discovered on Sunday belong to 23-year-old Charlie McBride. The remains were found in the Morgan Creek Drainage area, and a postmortem examination was conducted in Boise to positively identify McBride.
Authorities are now treating McBride’s case as a homicide and are conducting an ongoing investigation. They are questioning individuals who may be connected to the case but have not provided specific details about the events leading up to the discovery of McBride’s body.
According to reports, McBride was last seen at his residence in Challis, Idaho, on February 25, 2019. His sister-in-law Mari McBride mentioned that there were rumors suggesting McBride was scheduled to work that morning at a nearby excavation company, and his roommate Samantha Mariah affirmed that she was aware of his intention to go to work.
However, McBride did not return home that evening. Samantha attempted to contact him through social media after several days of no communication. The Custer County Sheriff, Stu Lumpkin, provided an update on the investigation through a Facebook post, detailing the efforts made to locate McBride.
Despite extensive searches in the Morgan Creek area, including investigations of structures and thorough examinations of the site, no evidence of McBride’s whereabouts was found.
