Catholic University Lockdown: Shelter in place, shooting near the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC

Police in Washington, D.C. are investigating a shooting that took place on Monday night in Northwest. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported that the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had been shot and was not conscious or breathing, prompting the dispatch of a Homicide Unit.

The shooting happened just a few streets away from the Catholic University of America. At around 8:41 p.m., the university issued a warning for students to shelter in place, leading to a campus lockdown. MPD mentioned that there is no active lookout for suspects but urged anyone with information to call 911 and reference occurrence number I20240394406.

Authorities have confirmed that this is not an active shooter situation and there is no ongoing threat.
