Brent Simpson Death: An officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department passed away in the hospital from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday afternoon. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, CMPD Officer Brent Simpson died by suicide at an apartment on Steele Creek Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“Preliminary information indicates one CMPD officer suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was transported to a local hospital, and succumbed to his injuries,” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, CMPD Officer Brent Simpson, who trains new recruits, was declared dead in the hospital on Monday afternoon after he self-inflicted a gunshot wound. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said that the officer shot himself on Monday afternoon and passed away in the hospital.
The CMPD acknowledged, “Preliminary information indicates one of our officers sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was transported to a local hospital, and unfortunately passed away from his injuries.”
Around noon on Monday, July 1, officers from the Steele Creek Division responded to reports in the 7300 block of Steele Creek Road, which is located immediately south of the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
