Beau Lamarre-Condon, a New South Wales Police officer, has been charged with two counts of murder following allegations that he was involved in the deaths of Luke Davies and Jesse Baird, a couple from Sydney. Lamarre-Condon, identified as a former partner of Baird’s husband, spent the night in protective custody at the Silverwater Correctional Complex after turning himself in at the Bondi Police Station.
Luke Davies, a flight attendant, and Jesse Baird, a former Ten broadcaster, were reportedly killed at some point during Monday morning. Lamarre-Condon is accused of disposing of their remains later that day by hiring a vehicle. The police discovered bloodied items belonging to both men in a skip-bin at Club Cronulla on Wednesday, prompting a search of Baird’s residence, where a significant amount of blood was found.
The police have expressed “grave concerns” for Davies and Baird and have charged Lamarre-Condon with murder based on evidence found at the scene, including gun casings consistent with Lamarre-Condon’s police-issued Glock. Witnesses reported hearing shouting from the vicinity of Baird’s residence on Monday.
As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Balmain and discovered a vehicle believed to have been used by Lamarre-Condon to dispose of the remains in Gray’s Point. CCTV footage captured Lamarre-Condon walking along the street in Gray’s Point while carrying his shoes.
Lamarre-Condon’s arrest has prompted reactions from various groups, including the LGBT community in Australia, who have expressed outrage at the alleged involvement of a police officer in the murders. Lamarre-Condon is expected to remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
Beau Lamarre-Condon joined the New South Wales Police in 2019, following in the footsteps of his mother, Coleen Lamarre. Coleen Lamarre has faced criminal charges herself, appearing in court in November 2023.
