3 U.S. Army Reserve soldiers died in Jordan after a one-way, unmanned aerial system struck their container housing units
The Department of Defense has reported the tragic demise of three U.S. Army Reserve soldiers who were providing support for Operation Inherent Resolve. The soldiers, Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, lost their lives on January 28, 2024, in Jordan, due to an incident involving a one-way, unmanned aerial system striking their container housing units. Expressing deep condolences, Lt. Gen. Jody Daniels, chief of Army Reserve and commanding general, U.S. Army Reserve Command, remarked on the profound impact of the loss on the Army Reserve. He emphasized the significance of the service and sacrifice made by these Citizen-Soldiers, underlining their commitment to their country.
Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, aged 46, hailed from Willingboro, New Jersey. He enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2011 as an interior electrician (12R) and had served with distinction, including a deployment to Iraq in 2018 as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, aged 24, was from Waycross, Georgia, and joined the Army Reserve in 2019 as a horizontal construction engineer (12N). Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, aged 23, also from Savannah, Georgia, enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2019 as a horizontal construction engineer (12N). All three soldiers were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company, 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Fort Moore, Georgia, at the time of their passing.
Brig. Gen. Todd Lazaroski, commanding general, 412th Theater Engineer Command, extended condolences to the families, loved ones, and colleagues of the fallen soldiers, highlighting their bravery and the inherent risks they face in defending the nation.
