Man Arrested After Threatening Cashier and Robbing Walgreens Store in Plainfield, Connecticut

PLAINFIELD, Conn. — A man was apprehended by police on Saturday evening after allegedly threatening a cashier and stealing money from the cash register at a Walgreens store in Plainfield, according to a statement by the Plainfield Police Department.

Authorities received a report around 8:50 p.m. about a man in his 50s who had entered the Walgreens located on Prospect Street in the Moosup section of town. The suspect reportedly approached an 18-year-old cashier and demanded money from the cash register while making threats.

The suspect was described as wearing a dark blue hat with red lettering. After reviewing the store’s surveillance camera footage, officers confirmed that the man had indeed left the store with cash.

During an unrelated incident near Green Hollow Road, officers came across a man matching the description of the robbery suspect. The man, identified as 61-year-old Richard Foux, was found sitting in the bar at the Music Lady Cafe and subsequently taken into custody.

Foux has been charged with robbery in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree, threatening in the second degree, and breach of peace in the second degree. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and is expected to appear at Danielson Superior Court on Monday.
