Taken into custody by Chicago police officers on Friday at the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue, the teenage suspect was identified as one of the individuals involved in the fatal shooting incident that occurred around 4:23 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3500 block of West 61st Place. Reports indicate that the victims, a 65-year-old man named Mario Medina and his 14-year-old grandson, Juan, were standing outdoors when a gray vehicle approached, and occupants fired shots at them. The elder victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, while the teenage victim tragically succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head at the scene of the crime.
News sources revealed that Mario Medina attempted to warn his grandson, Juan, to seek shelter moments before they were both mercilessly shot.
