Alice Victoria Mizell Evans of Hannahan, SC, lovingly known as Victoria or Torie by her siblings, died at age 80 on December 27, 2023. She passed away peacefully with her tight-knit family by her side.

Alice was born on November 21, 1943 in Charleston, SC to the late Henry Blythe Mizell and Helen Evangeline Grooms Mizell. She graduated from Harleyville Ridgeville High School and lived in South Carolina all her life.

Faith was the cornerstone of Alice’s life. She was a longtime member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church and brought her strong spirituality to all she did. Singing hymns in church was one of Alice’s greatest joys.

Above all else, Alice cherished time with family. She was a selfless, loving wife to her husband James A. Evans for over 60 devoted years and mother to her daughters Belinda and Teresa. Her grandchildren Jared, Krystal, Brandon and great-granddaughter Aurora were her pride and joy.

Alice found pleasure in simple pastimes like reading and writing heartfelt poetry. She shared her gift for writing thoughtful words with those she loved.

Preceding Alice in passing are her siblings Elizabeth Reynolds, Henry B. Mizell Jr., Jeanette Rudd, Samuel Mizell and Violet Ackerman. She leaves behind her brother Franklin Mizell and stepsister Tina Reddick.

Alice will be remembered for her strength, faith, and capacity to give love unconditionally. Her beautiful spirit continues shining through her children, grandchildren, and all those touched by her kindness.

A visitation will be held on January 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM followed by a 1:00 PM funeral service at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial. Alice will be laid to rest afterward at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
