What happened near Mesa airport?
Authorities have identified four of the five people who died in a plane crash near Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, Arizona, on Tuesday afternoon. The victims are Spencer Lindahl (43), Rustin Randall (48), Drew Kimball (44), and Graham Kimball (12).
The crash occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. near Greenfield and McKellips roads, when a Honda HA-420 jet, piloted by Randall, attempted to abort its takeoff, crashed through an airport perimeter fence, and collided with a car.
The pilot and passengers were reportedly en route to Provo, Utah, and one person aboard the plane survived with burn injuries. The driver of the vehicle, whose identity is still undisclosed, was also killed in the fiery crash.
Mesa police and NTSB investigators are on-site, and Greenfield Road remains closed for investigation. Witnesses or anyone with relevant information are encouraged to contact the NTSB.
A preliminary report is expected within 30 days, while the final investigation could take 12 to 24 months.
