An off-duty Greensboro police officer is dead after a shooting in the Colfax area.
Earlier on Saturday, multiple outlets were reporting a heavy police presence in Colfax in response to a shooting at a Sheetz. FOX8 WGHP reported that Guilford County EMS said one individual had been hospitalized with serious injuries due to the incident.
An NC Blue Alert was sent out on Saturday evening to announce that authorities are looking for two suspects, adding that there was an “assault on law enforcement officer.”
Police are holding a press conference on the matter Saturday night. Gov. Roy Cooper has confirmed the officer was killed and via social media offered “prayers” and “all available state resources” in finding the suspects.
