3 Dead, 2 critically injured in Waianae shooting involving Front Loader incident
Officers responded to multiple 911 calls that came from a Waianae home, that reported that their neighbor was operating a front loader and was using it to ram multiple cars into the home.
Officials reported that multiple individuals were in the carport and fled or tried to flee when the suspect opened fire, striking the victims. At some point, a 42-year-old man, who was a resident of the home, fatally shot the suspect with a handgun.
Upon arrival, HPD officers immediately assessed everyone who was injured. Five people ended up with gunshot wounds, with three of them dying from their injuries. The surviving victims, a 31-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, were taken by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The 42-year-old man who shot the suspect was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree. He is in police custody, pending investigation.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the front loader was carrying four 55-gallon drums that contained an unknown fuel. Some witnesses also reported that the suspect shot rounds at the drums.
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Hazmat Team is continuing to assist HPD with the removal of the drums.
The investigation remains ongoing.

WAIANAE, Hawaii (Island News) — Six people were shot and four killed after an incident in Waianae late Saturday night.
Police and first responders were called out to a shooting at a home in the 65-100 block of Waianae Valley Road around 11:15 p.m.
When crews arrived they found six individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Three people — two adult women and an adult man — were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
All six victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to EMS.
The three remaining gunshot victims were taken to the hospital, one woman in her 30s or 40s in critical condition, a 31-year-old man in serious condition, and a woman in her 50s in serious condition. The woman who was taken to the hospital in critical condition later died from her injuries. No identities have been released.
Details about the shooting have not yet been revealed. Honolulu Police (HPD) investigators say the suspect is among the people killed in the shooting.
