Elaine Fair Obituary
Elaine Marie Fair, age 78, of Carey, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.
Elaine was born on June 8, 1946 in Millersburg, Ohio, to John and Wanda (Martin) Armstrong. She excelled as a student and graduated from Millersburg High School. After graduation, she married Thomas Fair in Nashville, Ohio. They were married 61 years and he survives.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Joan (George) Frederick of Bluffton, Julie (Jeff) Legg of Westerville, and Janelle (Terry) Kin of Carey. 6 grandchildren, Courtney (Tina) Nichol, Chelsea Frederick, Emily Legg, Evan Legg, Paige (Lee) Summers, Lauren Kin, and a great grandson, Elliott Baker, along with a sister Sue (Bob) Schneider of Toledo, brother-in-law Tim Fair of Wooster, sister-in-law Terrie Fair of Wyoming, and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine founded Angelo’s Pizza 49 years ago, and the business continues to operate in Carey today. Over the years, Elaine’s commitment to the community and hands-on business approach resulted in mentoring hundreds of young adults and forging lasting friendships, many of which are considered extended family to this day.
Elaine was a member of the Apostolic Gospel Church where she played the organ for many years.
Elaine had many talents and interests including her musical abilities. At 12 years old she began playing piano in a dance band with her father, a time that brought her many fond memories. By the age of 13, she was playing the piano at several local churches. After moving to Wyandot County, she gave piano lessons to many people in Upper Sandusky when her children were young, and she played at a multitude of weddings and funerals throughout her life. She was engaged with all her daughters’ activities including serving in leadership roles for the Upper Sandusky Band Boosters. Later in life, Elaine’s enrollment in massage therapy school and her subsequent work providing massages to hospice patients for a period of time is just one example of her passion for continuous learning and commitment to serve others. She was an avid family historian and traced her lineage through many generations, and she helped others do the same. A travel highlight was her recent trip to Ireland which allowed her to visit significant locations from her family’s past.
Elaine’s legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her family and deep faith in the Lord. Her life was a testament to the power of unconditional love and selflessness. A constant source of wisdom and guidance, Elaine’s extraordinary character shone through in her actions. She made time for her family in every circumstance and her presence will be deeply missed. She approached every task with a heart full of generosity, ensuring that her family needs were met with grace and love. She will always be remembered for her warm and welcoming demeanor as well as how much fun it was to be around her. Her family adored her. Elaine believed that as a Christian she was called to tell others about Jesus, a mission she pursued passionately until her final day. Her enduring love and nurturing personality will forever be cherished.
Funeral services for Elaine Marie Fair will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Rodney Donnohoo officiating.
Visitations will be held on Monday, July 8, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas Batton Funeral Home, and 1 hour before service time on Tuesday.
