Kansas Wesleyan University Alumnus Jorge Varela of Salina, Kansas has sadly passed away. He died on Monday 24 June 2024 after a tragic accident leaving those who knew him devastated. He was confirmed dead through a publication that said “This Monday brings a heavy heart as a member of our softball family has gained his wings. RIP my friend Jorge Varela – until we meet again.”

Jorge Varela’s educational journey began at Garden City High School, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. After graduating, he continued his education at Garden City Community College from 1994 to 1996, focusing on broadening his academic horizons and preparing for his future career. His dedication to his studies led him to Kansas Wesleyan University, where he pursued a degree in Criminal Justice, graduating in 2000.
Jorge’s academic achievements were just one aspect of his multifaceted personality. Known for his warm and compassionate nature, he was a loving and caring man who always put others before himself. Whether with family, friends, or acquaintances, Jorge had an innate ability to connect with people and make them feel valued. His selflessness and dedication to the happiness of others were evident in all his interactions, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

His commitment to helping others and his unwavering support for those around him made him a cherished figure in his community.
