Jacoby Robinson Jr. Missing, Two-year-old missing mother detained recovered in Las Vegas A tragic incident unfolded in Las Vegas as a young boy reported missing on Thursday was found deceased in a dumpster, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The boy, identified as two-year-old Jacoby Robinson Jr., was last seen around 7:45 p.m. near Lewis Avenue and South 15th Street, close to Mayfair Place Park and not far from East Charleston Boulevard and Maryland Parkway.

His mother, 23-year-old Diaja Smith, has been detained as a suspect in his homicide. Authorities quickly responded to the missing child report, and a flyer about Jacoby was distributed by Metro’s missing persons section.

Officers arrived at the scene around 8:25 p.m. and began an intensive search. Approximately at 1 a.m. on Friday, the boy was found inside a dumpster in the 1300 block of Lewis Avenue. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Section took over the investigation. Detectives determined that Smith was a suspect in the case. She was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder and other felony offenses.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the official identification of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death. This heartbreaking event has shocked the community, and further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
