A plastic surgeon and his two children who were LSU students set to graduate on Friday all died after a small plane they were traveling on crashed on Wednesday.
The plane traveling from Baton Rouge to Louisville, Kentucky, crashed about 20 miles south of Nashville.
The deceased were confirmed on Thursday as Dr Lucius Doucet and his two children, Giselle and Jean-Luc Doucet, both set to graduate from LSU this Friday.
A statement from the University confirmed the tragic news and promised to honor the two students so tragically killed.
The flight – a single-engine, 1966 Beechcraft V35 Bonanza owned and operated by Dr Doucet – left the Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday and was headed for Bowman Field in Louisville, Kentucky.
The plane crashed around noon Wednesday, and heavy rain showers started in the area shortly after.
Jill Burgin, spokesperson for the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency, said they received a 911 call about a plane crash at about 12:05 p.m. Wednesday.
On Thursday, a National Transportation Safety Board official said weather may have caused the fatal crash.
According to his online bio: “Dr. Doucet is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over twenty-eight years of experience. He specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
He is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine. After completing a General Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, he went on to the prestigious plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of California-Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California.
His love of family, food, and music led him back to Louisiana.
Dr. Doucet is proud to have raised three brilliant children in Baton Rouge who are now in the fields of medicine and engineering.
He enjoys spending time with his family and friends when he is not pursuing his favorite hobby, aviation.
