After 11 o’clock at night, there was a collision that occurred in the 1200 block of East Lake Avenue, and it involved two vehicles. As per the authorities, Marko Niketic, who is 17 years old, was operating one of the automobiles.
The Cook County Medical Examiner concluded that he passed away as a result of the collision. According to the authorities, the passenger of the Niketic was transferred to a hospital after suffering significant injuries.
According to the Glenview police department, both the driver and the passenger of the other vehicle were sent to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. There was an automobile that was light in colour that was cut in half, with the trunk being taken away from the front part of the vehicle.
The front and rear ends of a dark-colored automobile were severely damaged, and the hood was smashed all the way into the windshield. The vehicle was also severely damaged. It is believed that the person who called 911 and witnessed the collision was being followed by a driver who was driving a Mustang.
Before the collision took place, the witness stated that one of the drivers had passed him at a speed of at least ninety miles per hour. The driver allegedly flicked his lights on and off, according to him.
“I seen him turn on his lights one more time and then a second later I seen lights in the air, like [one] of the cars got hit, one of these cars was pulling out and I think it just got T-boned,” according to the individual who witnessed.
Friends and family members were there at the scene. Other identities have not been disclosed at this time. According to the Glenview Police Department, East Lake Avenue is currently closed in both directions from Wagner Road to Waukegan Road.
The Major Crash Assistance Team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force is providing assistance to the police as they are conducting their investigation. The official cause of the crash has not been determined as of yet.
