The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has reported a tragic incident involving the fatal shooting of Jennifer L. Hribar, 39, in her home in Morgantown, West Virginia, on April 25, 2024. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Rick Allen Cordes of Morgantown, has been taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with his wife’s death.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a shooting incident on Falling Water Lane around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Jennifer Hribar with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite efforts to assist her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Monongalia County Sheriff’s Detectives have been deployed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Emergency medical services, including Mon EMS, Brookhaven Fire Department, and Cheat Lake Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting occurred following a heated argument between the suspect and his wife. The couple had been married since 2023.
Sheriff Perry Palmer has authorized the release of this information and urges anyone with relevant details about the incident to come forward and contact the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.
