NYC communities mourn ex-595 Episodes announcer and WPLJ Radio’s Tony Pigg

Ex-Live with Kelly and Ryan broadcasts announcer and DJ Tony Pigg has died, a family friend Zee announced on Facebook. “I was shocked and saddened to hear that one of the NYC Radio greats Tony Pigg had passed away. Tony was funny, charming, sarcastic but most of all a very good friend. He ended his show with “nothing but thanks” but today, for all of us, Nothing But Thanks to you, Tony Pigg for being in our lives. Rest easy, my friend.”

The warmth and wit of Tony Pigg entertained an entire generation of New York radio listeners. His talent was a major reason why in the 70’s, WPLJ became the most listened to FM station in America and is so fondly remembered today. Tony loved his audience. At the end of each show, he delivered his signature line “Nothing but thanks” and he meant it.  He was 85.

Tony Pigg has been a consistent presence on the show for many years. According to his IMDb page, he served as the announcer for 595 episodes from 2014 to 2019. However, he has held this position since the time of Regis Philbin. Tony has a long-standing radio profession. Those who were raised listening to the radio station WPLJ throughout the 1970s will certainly acknowledge him (or at least remember his voice). If you require a reminder, please refer to this tape of one of his airchecks from a previous time.

Following his appointment as the announcer for Live, Tony Pigg maintained his popularity and recognition as a well-known figure. Nevertheless, he has been absent from the Live with Kelly and Ryan broadcasts for the past month. At first, Ryan Seacrest assumed Tony’s role as an announcer, clarifying that Tony was unwell. Nevertheless, over a month has elapsed and Ryan continues to fulfill the role of announcer, but no updates have been provided regarding Tony’s situation. Devoted viewers of the program have taken to social media to inquire about Tony, addressing their queries to both Kelly and Ryan. However, up to this point, both celebrities have chosen to remain silent on the matter.
