Ron Shaffer Death – It is with a deep sense of sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of Ron Shaffer, who served as the Vice President of the Vandergrift #1 Volunteer Fire Department and as the Rescue Captain. In this time of need, we are grateful for all of the prayers and kind words that have been offered for his family and for our Fire Department.
The news of Ron Shaffer’s demise was announced on the official Facebook page of Murrysville Medic One. The post read, “With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of EMT/Dispatcher Ron Shaffer.” The year 2008 marks Ron’s first year of employment with Medic One. Our rehabilitation, special operations, water rescue, diving, and emergency medical services strike teams all had Ron as a member.
Not only did he participate in events at Medic One, but he was also an active member of the Vandergrift #1 Volunteer Fire Department and taught a number of rescue operations across the region. The absence of Ron will be keenly felt. In your prayers, please remember to include his family, his coworkers, his brothers and sisters, and the members of the Vandergrift #1 VFD #1.
As well as Medic 614 and Medic 616, as well as Director 610 . we would like to express our gratitude to Oklahoma Emergency Medical Services, Vandergrift #1 Volunteer Fire Department, Vandergrift Police Department, Apollo VFD #2, Apollo VFD#3, Apollo Police Department, and Stat Medevac for their support during this emotionally charged call. We would also like to express our gratitude to Lower Burrell EMS, Penn Twp Ambulance, Oklahoma EMS, and Mutual Aid Ambulance for providing coverage for our service area and allowing us the opportunity to grieve.
On the official Facebook page for the band, Jason Cook posted the following message: “I am in complete shock right now. I was just told that Ron Shaffer passed away last night.” We just had a conversation on Sunday, and we took this picture. We were discussing a variety of topics related to first responders and other related topics, and he expressed his gratitude for the donation that was made to the department. Rest in peace, Ron, and prayers are addressed to his family and friends.
