Missing 5-year-old boy found dead in drainage ditch, police say

A missing 5-year-old boy was found dead in a drainage ditch Sunday afternoon in upstate New York, according to authorities.

The little boy went missing around 1:30 p.m. in Poughkeepsie. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and diaper near Manchester Road and Rhobella Drive, police said.

According to police in the town of Poughkeepsie, as officials searched the area, they found a shoe in the Casper Creek. Water rescuers then found the boy in “several” feet of water. He was found unresponsive and not breathing.

He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

As of now, his name has not been released. The incident remains under investigation.
