Wisbens Antoine Officer Death, Obituary: 2023-B Basic Recruit Class member has died

The Knoxville Police Department, led by Chief Paul Noel, sadly announced the removal of Officer Wisbens Antoine from duty due to injuries sustained. With heavy hearts, they release this statement, expressing profound sorrow and pain for the loss.

Wisbens Antoine embarked on his journey with the Kansas City Police Department in 2023 at the age of 32. On September 25, 2023, he commenced fundamental recruit training, serving the community with dedication during his tenure. Antoine was slated to officially join the Knoxville Police Department on March 4th, alongside his eighteen classmates.

Tragically, Antoine collapsed after completing a mile and a half run on a Friday afternoon. The circumstances surrounding his collapse remain unknown. Despite immediate CPR and life-saving efforts by the Kansas City Police Department training team, including the use of an AED, Antoine’s condition deteriorated rapidly. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC), where despite continuous treatment, he peacefully passed away around 4 o’clock on Sunday morning, February 25, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

The Kansas City Police Department led a procession to transport Antoine’s remains to the Regional Forensic Center, supported by various law enforcement agencies. Antoine leaves behind his wife and children, and discussions regarding funeral arrangements are ongoing.

The loss of Officer Wisbens Antoine is deeply felt by the Knoxville Police Department and the wider community. His dedication and service will be remembered and honored by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
