Police Shoot and Kill 63-Year-Old Woman Who Allegedly Set Sister’s Home on Fire

Authorities have announced that a 63-year-old woman was shot and killed by police after allegedly breaking into her sister’s home armed with a handgun and setting the residence on fire earlier this month. The incident occurred in the 9600 block of Laramie Avenue in Chatsworth, Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a distress call from the sister who had locked herself in the bathroom and called 911. Body-worn camera footage from the responding officers shows flames and smoke coming from the home.

The victim managed to escape the burning house and seek refuge in a neighbor’s backyard. She informed the police that the suspect, later identified as Lisa Davis, was armed and last seen in the backyard of her home.

The officers entered the backyard of the residence as the fire was still burning and announced their presence. They located Davis, who immediately pointed a handgun at one of the officers, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Davis was struck by gunfire, taken into custody, and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

At the scene, police recovered a Walther model P22, .22 caliber, blue-steel semi-automatic handgun.
