Active Shooter in NorthEast Charlotte: The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has reported that many law enforcement officers were shot in east Charlotte on Monday. Some of the roadways affected are Interstate 77 northbound at I-277 (John Belk Freeway) and Independence Boulevard (U.S. 74) inbound. The CMPD SWAT unit is currently there at the location and actively addressing the situation. The mass casualty unit of the MEDIC organization was observed en route to the location of the gunshot incident. The shooting incident took place during an investigation conducted by the United States Marshals Task Force, which consists of officers from various law enforcement agencies.
